Artech - 1st & Scotia (Just East of Main Street) Vancouver, B.C. Canada
Joe Leger and Tanis Laird live in a little house located in the harbour in Port Moody. They are surrounded by water and have experienced the tidal changes and weather first hand—sometimes a little too close for comfort. For the first few months after moving into this seaside home, Tanis often dreamt their living space was filled waist-deep with water; she imagined their belongings floating around their living room. As a born-and-raised prairie girl, she obviously had some adjusting to do.
Since then, Tanis has gained immense respect for the ocean and its powers. Following the moon’s cycle and seasonal weather changes, it seems like water and the ocean contain their own moods. As it rises and falls, water transforms itself and everything around it.
Joe and Tanis capture the reflections and luminescence that is created on the surface of water: the ghostly patterns, the smoke rings, the smudges. Using slow shutter speeds, Joe was able to better record these elusive patterns. From Joe’s photography and other references, Tanis paints her own interpretation of water. Using oil paint and layers of glaze, she builds the depth and glassiness she needs to portray surfaces as well as underwater scenes. Together they show an artistic reflection of the many moods of water.

my favorite time of year- time to go 'squirrel-y'! (my translation for cooking tons in the kitchen.) hung up on some crafting projects as usual- www.craftster.org is a huge obsession! i can't stop!
